How It Works

The Ignite Plan: Four Benefits
Working Together

💰

Reduce Payroll Taxes

IRS Section 125 restructures how certain benefits are funded, legally reducing the taxable wage base — saving both you and your employees money.

🏥

Add Free Preventive Care

Employees receive real preventive wellness benefits — telemedicine, lab work, and more — with no added cost to your payroll budget.

📉

Lower Self-Insured Costs

Preventive care reduces downstream claims — meaning lower costs for businesses that self-insure or carry high-deductible plans.

🤝

Improve Retention

In service-industry markets where benefits are rare, Ignite gives your team a meaningful perk that improves morale and reduces costly turnover.

Ignite Health Program — Questions Answered

Everything Oregon business owners want to know before enrolling.

Is the Ignite Health program legal?
Yes — 100%. The Ignite Plan is structured under IRC Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code, the same provision that governs HSAs, FSAs, and employer-sponsored health plans. Section 125 explicitly permits employers to offer pre-tax benefit arrangements that reduce FICA taxable wages for both the employer and the employee. The program has been reviewed by independent ERISA attorneys and complies fully with IRS guidance. Thousands of businesses across the United States are currently using Section 125-based structures to reduce payroll taxes legally.
Which businesses qualify for the Ignite Health program?
To qualify, a business generally needs: (1) at least 5 W-2 employees on payroll; (2) a willingness to offer a voluntary, pre-tax supplemental health benefit; and (3) to be structured as a C-Corp, S-Corp, LLC with employees, or partnership. Sole proprietors without W-2 employees do not qualify. Most industries qualify — professional services, healthcare, retail, construction, and more. Rodney will run a quick eligibility assessment at no cost before recommending the program.
How long does it take to implement the program?
Implementation is typically completed within 30–45 days. The process includes: a business analysis and savings projection (1–2 weeks), plan document preparation and legal review (1–2 weeks), employee enrollment and payroll integration (1–2 weeks). Once set up, the program runs automatically — there are no changes to day-to-day operations. Your payroll provider (ADP, Paychex, Gusto, etc.) simply updates how wages are classified. Rodney and the Ignite Health team handle the setup.
How much can we actually save?
FICA tax savings depend on your number of employees and average wages. As an employer, you save 7.65% of FICA-eligible wages shifted to the pre-tax benefit. Employees also save on their share of FICA (7.65%) plus federal and state income taxes. A business with 20 employees at $50,000 average salary can save $75,000–$150,000+ annually — both employer and employee combined. Use the savings calculator above for your personalized estimate, or schedule a free analysis with Rodney for exact numbers.
Does the Ignite program affect employee benefits or take-home pay?
Employees receive a supplemental health benefit at no cost to them, and their net take-home pay increases because their federal income tax and FICA withholding decrease. Participation is voluntary — employees choose whether to enroll. Existing benefits (health insurance, 401k, etc.) are not affected. Social Security and Medicare benefit calculations are based on reported wages, so employees should be aware that pre-tax wage reduction may modestly affect future Social Security benefits — though the current tax savings typically outweigh this difference significantly.
Is there IRS audit risk with the Ignite program?
The Ignite Plan is a fully documented, attorney-reviewed Section 125 plan — not a "tax scheme" or workaround. Properly structured Section 125 plans are a well-established and widely used part of the tax code. The plan includes a formal Plan Document, Summary Plan Description, and annual compliance review — all standard requirements for IRC Section 125 plans. IRS scrutiny typically targets poorly documented or non-compliant plans; the Ignite structure is built specifically to meet compliance standards. Rodney will not recommend the program to businesses where the risk/reward doesn't make sense.
We already have a Section 125 plan. Can we still benefit?
Possibly — it depends on how your current plan is structured and which benefits are included. Many existing Section 125 plans (FSAs, HSAs, dependent care) only partially capture available FICA savings. The Ignite Health program may add a supplemental benefit layer that captures additional FICA-exempt wages not covered by your current plan. Rodney will review your existing Section 125 documents at no cost to determine whether there's incremental savings available without disrupting your current setup.
What is our ongoing commitment after implementation?
After implementation, the program is largely self-managing. Your payroll system handles the pre-tax wage classification automatically. Annual compliance requirements include plan document updates and employee re-enrollment (typically handled by the Ignite Health team). You'll receive an annual savings report and compliance review. There's no heavy administrative burden — most business owners spend less than a few hours per year managing the program after the initial setup.
